Entrepreneurship MGT-103
Course Description
This course addresses the unique entrepreneurial experience of conceiving, evaluating, creating, managing, and potentially selling a business. The goal is to provide a comprehensive background with practical application of important concepts applicable to entrepreneurial environment. In addition to creative aspects, key business areas of finance, accounting, marketing and management will be addressed from an entrepreneurial perspective. The course relies on classroom discussion, participation, case analysis, the creation and building a business plan to develop a strategy for launching and managing a business.
You will need to draw upon your business education and experience, and apply it to the task of launching a new venture. You are expected to interact with the business community, advisors, be able to work effectively in teams, and be active participants in classroom discussions and exercises.
Course Objectives
· To possess a well grounded understanding of essential entrepreneurial business principals.
· To develop an understanding of important business issues as they relate to new ventures.
· To identify, appreciate, and assess the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of an entrepreneur.
· To study and observe entrepreneurial settings and entrepreneurial role models through exposure to actual business settings and experiences.
· To have an expanded awareness of the resources available for creating a business plan.
· To establish a level of confidence in creating a business plan as a tool to assess, create and communicate a business concept.

Class participation and Reading
You are expected to read the following:
- A new chapter before class
- Review the last class content
And share what you have read with your class mates. A pop up quiz will be applied to test your reading and reviewing so please be prepared and take the reading from the book seriously.
2.Group Project:
Business Plan Development
To understand the related entrepreneurial process, you will take a hands-on approach. Working with your team, you will mutually decide upon a concept and develop a comprehensive business plan. In most cases, the primary objective of your team’s business plan will be to receive funding. Your team will present the plan as a written document and present it to the class
The Business Plan – The body of the written business plan should be no more than 20 pages including: the cover page , table of content, group project members and their contribution, executive summary, company description (mission, vision statements, objectives, legal and product or services), industry analysis, market and competitive analysis, marketing plan product or services design and development, operation plan, management team and company structure, overall schedule, financial plan, funding strategy and Appendix for designs, industry and market analysis and detailed spreadsheets however, the total plan should not exceed 30 pages. Business Plan Presentation (Oral): Strong written and oral skills greatly facilitate success in the business world. Those individuals that can effectively communicate their ideas will have an advantage over those that cannot. (Please see Business Plan Presentation rubric and outline below for further information)
- Exams:
A designated 2-midterm exam and a final exam will test your grasp of the materials discussed in class.- Midterm structure consists of: true and false, multiple choice and essay question.
- Final exam structure consists of: same as midterm in addition to mini case study where you need to answer few questions or matching table.
