Mahmoud Yousef Ghoneem | محمود يوسف غنيم

Dr. Ghoneem is an Associate Professor of Architecture in the Department of Architecture and Building Sciences, College of Architecture and Planning, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. He holds two doctoral degrees: a PhD in Architecture from Helwan University, Egypt (2011), and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the International Business School of Scandinavia, Denmark (2026). His DBA complements his established expertise in architecture and urban design by extending his interdisciplinary perspective into strategic management, institutional governance, organisational performance, and urban decision-making. With over 25 years of academic and professional experience, Dr. Ghoneem combines university teaching, scientific research, postgraduate supervision, and curriculum development with extensive architectural and urban design practice and consultancy across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. His international academic engagement has also included a visiting professorship at Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. His multidisciplinary background is further supported by an MBA and postgraduate qualifications in Urban Management from IHS, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Disaster Management from the National Institute of Rural Development, India.

His research focuses on architecture, urban design, sustainable and resilient urban development, environmental management, urban climate adaptation, and urban governance. His recent research extends these foundations into AI-enabled urban management, institutional and operational readiness, strategic urban decision-making, and the development of integrated theoretical and operational frameworks for sustainable urban transformation.

Beyond his academic and professional practice, Dr. Ghoneem is an accredited external reviewer with Saudi Arabia's Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC). His academic quality assurance and accreditation experience encompasses institutional and programme evaluation, curriculum review, educational quality enhancement, and accreditation frameworks associated with NCAAA and NAAB.

His work integrates architectural and urban design knowledge with environmental performance, management sciences, and institutional quality assurance, with an emphasis on translating interdisciplinary research into context-sensitive, evidence-informed, and practically applicable solutions.
