Mohammed Almannaa is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at King Saud University (KSU), specializing in Traffic Engineering and Transportation Systems. He holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from KSU (2012), and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering) from Virginia Tech (2016, 2019). Alongside his academic role, he serves as the head of research and innovation department at AI center and also a part-time consultant with private and government organizations, including the Traffic Engineering Department at Alriyadh Municipality, the National Road Safety Center, and the Deanship of Admission and Registration Affairs at KSU. He has authored or co-authored over 40 conference or journal articles. His experience has contributed to projects funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation. He's also been recognized with several awards, including First Place in the UAS4T competition at the 2020 IEEE ITSC and the Lifesavers Traffic Safety Scholar title in 2019. Dr. Almannaa is a member of several scientific and governance committees, one of which is the Traffic Safety and Transportation Committee at KSU and the permanent committee overseeing the implementation of governance mechanism aspects at KSU including academic advising and automation of procedures. His research interests include but are not limited to intelligent transportation systems, micro-mobility modes, traffic safety, and the application of machine learning and AI in transportation.
