Professor Fahim Akhter has 29 years of experience in a college environment, including twenty-six years of college-level teaching experience and sixteen years of supervisory experience as Associate Dean, Department Chair, and Director of Graduate Studies in a post-secondary setting.
Professor Akhter provides analysis and strategic leadership to strategic initiatives for reaccreditation, reviews academic programs, and oversees the college's strategic planning. He collaborates and provides leadership in program reviews, introducing new programs, curriculum development, build partnerships with the workforce and industry. He oversees the operational aspects of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Saudi National Commission for Academic Accreditation & Assessment (NCAAA) at King Saud University.
He held senior administrative positions at Colgate University, Baruch College (CUNY), and Zayed University.
He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom, an MBA in International Business from Lindenwood University-Missouri, and a BSc in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the University of St. Louis-Missouri.
Professor Akhter has served the College of Technological Innovation of Zayed University in Dubai as a founding faculty for 13 years. As a Director of Graduate Studies of MSc in IT (Cyber Security), he supervised the academic program, including recruitment, enrolment, retention, and workforce. He chaired the accreditation committee to lead the college accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Professor Akhter has served the School of Arts and Sciences of Baruch College in NY as an IT Manager. He has taught Management Information Systems courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Zicklin School of Business (AACSB) of Baruch College.
Before Baruch College, He was with Colgate University, NY, for two years as Information Technology Support Specialist, managing multiple teams to develop technological solutions for faculty. He has assisted faculty in integrating technology into teaching, negotiated with vendors, and supervised and trained work-study students in laboratories.
Professor Akhter's research interests are cyber security management, focusing on managing innovation and technological change from perspectives including security and privacy issues. He has received approximately $ 1.25 million in research funding as a PI or Co-PI. He has authored over 50 research articles in refereed journals and conferences and edited chapters.
