Food Nanotoxicology: Studying of In vitro nano-toxicological effects (adhesion, cell death/apoptosis, intracellular trafficking, oxidative stress related signaling and gene expression) of engineering-, food-, personal care-, cosmetic- and agricultural-related nanomaterials (both organic and inorganic) as well as safety issues of nanotechnology development and applications.
 
Human metagenomics: Cataloging of human gut microbial communities and role in the pathogenesis of chronic diseases (i.e., obesity, diabetes, colon cancer and asthma) in Saudi population: A comparative metagenomic analysis by next generation sequencing (NGS) platform.
 
Nanobiotechnology: Bio-prospecting, semi-synthesis and surface-functionalization of novel bio-materials (nano and micro super-structures) from biological resources (sugarcane waste, husk of rice, millet, sorghum, etc.), and screening for biomedical applications (drug delivery, 3D scaffolds, etc.,).

Drug Screening: To screening the mechanisms underlying the molecular therapeutic effect of phytochemicals, synthetic organic and inorganic compounds in cancer cells and to elucidate if the cell killing is brought about through apoptotic or non-apoptotic mechanisms.
