Microwave-assistedsynthesisofZnOdopedCeO2 nanoparticles as potentialscaffoldforhighlysensitivenitroanilinechemicalsensor

Herein, wereportthesuccessfulfabricationofhighlysensitive,reproducibleandreliablenitroaniline

chemical sensorbasedonZnOdopedCeO2 nanoparticles. TheZnOdopedCeO2 nanoparticles were

synthesized throughasimple,facileandrapidmicrowave-assistedmethodandcharacterizedbyseveral

techniques.Thedetailedcharacterizationsconfirmed thatthesynthesizednanoparticlesweremono-

disperse andgrowninhighdensityandpossessinggoodcrystallinity.Further,thesynthesizedZnO

doped CeO2 nanoparticles wereusedasefficient electronmediatorsforthefabricationofhighsensitive

nitroaniline chemicalsensors.Thefabricatednitroanilinechemicalsensorexhibitedveryhighsensitivity

of 550.42 μAmM1 cm2 and experimentaldetectionlimitof0.25mM.Tothebestofourknowledge,

this isthe first reportinwhichCeO2–ZnO nanoparticleswereusedasefficient electronmediatorsforthe

fabrication ofnitroanilinechemicalsensors.Thus,presentedworkdemonstratesthatZnOdopedCeO2

nanoparticles arepotentialmaterialtofabricatehighlyefficient andreliablechemicalsensors.
