Dr. Hussain Abdulrahman Al-Omar is a consultant and professor of pharmacoeconomics and pharmaceutical policy at King Saud University. Dr. Al-Omar received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London, UK, and holds an executive education degree in business strategy and financial performance from the Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), France. He also received extensive training in the fields of HTA, health economics, HTA processes and methods for health technologies, and quantitative and qualitative research in health economics from the University of Oxford, the University of York, and the National Institute for Health Research, all in the UK.

Dr. Al-Omar is a visionary strategic leader with over 25 years of experience driving transformative advancements both globally, regionally and nationally. Globally recognized as an expert in health strategies, health policies, health technology assessment, pricing and reimbursement, and value-based healthcare and value-based contracting. Known for his instrumental leadership and playing pivotal roles in shaping several national and global health policies, national strategic projects and initiatives, and delivering measurable outcomes aiming to enhance health systems sustainability and efficiency.

Dr. Al-Omar brings a unique and distinct mix of strategic, scientific, operational and leadership expertise and is seen as a role model for many young individuals and experts in the field of HTA and HEOR. Additionally, his deep technical knowledge on HTA, pricing and reimbursement, and value-based procurement in relation to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, surgical procedures and interventions, digital health and artificial intelligence has made him second to none in this field in the entire region.
