Dr. Hussain Al-Omar is a consultant and associate professor in the department of clinical pharmacy at King Saud University. He also works as an advisor to the Health Technology Assessment and Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Initiatives at the Ministry of Health. Dr. Al-Omar received his doctorate degree (PhD) from the faculty of life sciences and medicine at King’s College London, United Kingdom, and holds an executive education in business strategy and financial performance from INSEAD Business School, France. Furthermore, he received training from the University of Oxford, the University of York, and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in the UK, in the field of health economics, health technology assessment, HTA processes and methods, as well as quantitative and qualitative research in health economics. In 2007, Dr. Al-Omar co-founded The Pharmacoeconomics Research Unit at King Saud University to be the first university-based unit in the country within this field. Presently, Dr. Al-Omar is actively collaborating as a researcher and a subject matter expert with both local and international institutions.
