Regulation of the optical and dielectric aspects of PMMA polymer by incorporating ZnCo2O4‑CdS/ TBAI/MWCNTs for optoelectronic devices and energy storage applications

This work seeks to develop a novel composite polymer comprising polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), ZnCo2O4/ CdS, tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI), and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) for various optoelectronic applications. Loaded polymers with ZnCo2O4+ CdS/TBAI/x wt% MWCNTs displayed significant absorbance in the UVB and UVC zones, irrespective of the MWCNTs doping level, while the polymer with x = 0.25% MWCNTs presented the maximum absorbance in the UVA zone. The least direct and indirect optical bandgap energies were achieved with PMMA containing ZnCo2O4+ CdS/TBAI/x wt% MWCNTs.The highest refractive index (1.53) at 600 nm was attained with the polymer containing ZnCo2O4+ CdS/TBAI/0.25 wt% MWCNTs. The doped polymer with 0.25 wt % MWCNTs demonstrates the greatest optical parameter values. The highest energy density value was recorded in ZnCo2O4 + CdS, TBAI, and/or 0.2wt% MWCNTs polymer. The incorporation of diverse fillers into PMMA resulted in an improvement in the dielectric constant AC conductivity.
