Dr. Aref A. Abadel is an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering at King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). He received his Ph.D. in 2016. He has vast teaching and research experience in the field of civil engineering. During his career, he taught many different undergraduate and graduate courses on subjects related to structural engineering.
Dr. Abadel is actively engaged in research in areas related to materials and structural engineering. His primary research interests are in material characterization, characterization, and assessment of mechanical behavior of FRP composite materials, blast- and impact-resistant; structural behavior of concrete structures; fiber reinforced concrete structures; geopolymer concrete cement-based and polymer-based fiber-reinforced composites; nano- and micro-mechanics of composite materials; sustainability and environmental impact; self-compacting concrete; and finite element modeling.
Dr. Aref has published over 120 technical papers, 20 conferences, holds patents, and supervised MSc and Ph.D. theses. He got many excellence and distinguished awards. He has delivered many locally and internationally lectures/seminars, and over 10 conference lectures in various countries, including the USA, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Czech Republic, and Portugal. He has served as a regular reviewer for many highly reputed international journals.
