Scheduling Threats and Their Defenses in Time-Sensitive Networks
Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) enables deterministic communication for industrial and safety-critical applications by providing bounded latency and predictable packet delivery. However, the scheduling mechanisms that support these guarantees introduce security concerns, as malicious activities may disrupt the transmission schedules of time-sensitive traffic and compromise network reliability. This paper investigates scheduling-related security threats in TSN environments and examines defensive approaches to mitigate their impact. The study focuses on the security implications of scheduling mechanisms and the importance of protecting time-critical communications against adversarial interference. The findings contribute to understanding the security challenges of TSN and support the development of more resilient scheduling strategies for industrial and real-time networks.
