PL495 - Graduation Project
The project addresses selected topics in urban planning, and the project begins with the presentation of the program and the development of the general structure, theoretical framework, similar case studies, and global experiences that were prepared in the previous semester. The project also focuses on analyzing statistical data, exploring population desires, linking them to the urban context, and studying environmental, social and economic impacts.
In this project, the student is trained to logically analysis urban issues and proposes appropriate solutions consistent with development trends and urban controls, and within the framework of the National Vision 2030. The student presents in this project a strategic approach and policies to address the current urban situation coupled with a number of planning alternatives that are evaluated based on specific criteria.
At the last phase of the project, the student develops optimal alternative and provide land use plans, determine needed services, and proposes transportation network. In addition, the student develops the urban controls and standards, environmental and economic resources according to the requirements and nature of each project. Finally, the student submits a proposed plan for the implementation mechanisms that achieves the project goals in a way that fits with the existing potentials and opportunities of the study area.
