Optical Biomedical Instrumentation – BMT336

The content of this course is divided into two main parts: the major optical phenomena, especially those related to biomedical technology, and optical instrumentation for the classical optical instruments commonly used in the biomedical field. In the first part, the physics of the optical phenomena are covered, such as electromagnetic waves, reflection, refraction, diffraction, etc. In the second part, the principle of operation, block diagram, and major components of optical instruments are covered. In addition, students are exposed to certain advanced optical techniques and their biomedical applications.
