Prof. Sajjad is a Professor of Polymer Engineering and Science in the Department of Chemical Engineering at King Saud University (KSU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has been serving at KSU since May 2009, initially joining the department as an Assistant Professor. He is actively involved in teaching and mentoring graduate and master’s students while leading advanced research in polymer science and nanotechnology. His primary research interests include the fabrication of electrospun nanofibers for environmental and biomedical applications, renewable biopolymer composites, polymer hydrogels for controlled drug release, and the development of metal nanoparticles incorporated into nanofibers for photocatalytic applications. Prof. Sajjad’s work integrates materials design with functional performance, addressing key challenges in sustainability, healthcare, and environmental remediation. Prof. Sajjad’s research contributions have received significant international recognition. His publications frequently rank among the most-cited and most-downloaded articles in leading international journals. According to Google Scholar, he has accumulated 11,892 citations, with an h-index of 53 and an i10-index of 148. His scholarly output includes more than 250 peer-reviewed publications, 3 patents, 10 edited reference books, and 15 book chapters. Collectively, his research publications have an impact factor exceeding 940 (as of 2025), with several additional manuscripts currently under review or in preparation. In recognition of his sustained scientific impact, Prof. Sajjad has been listed among the Top 2% of scientists worldwide for multiple years (2021, 2022, and 2024). At King Saud University, he has successfully established a fully operational Nanotechnology Research Laboratory, supported by the National Plan for Science and Technology (NPST). Through securing multiple competitive research grants, he has led projects that resulted in high-quality publications, patents, and excellent evaluations by AAA committees. In addition to his academic role at KSU, Prof. Sajjad has contributed to several international research initiatives during his Ph.D. studies. He was actively involved in the preparation and execution of research proposals funded by the Korean government and the Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development (AOARD) under the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), forming an integral part of his doctoral research and collaborative scientific activities.
