course
IE557 (Advanced Manufacturing Processes)
The course focuses on the machining science and technologies involved in non-traditional manufacturing processes, such as laser machining, EDM, and abrasive waterjet machining. The course also covers the advanced technologies that have recently been applied to conventional machining processes (turning, milling, drilling, etc.), which reduce their environmental and economic footprints while enhancing product quality. Moreover, to provide a complete understanding of a manufactured component's functional performance, reliability, and service life, the student will also learn in detail how advanced manufacturing processes affect a material's surface integrity.
