Introduction to Linguistics
The course aims at teaching introductory students the basic fundamental
concepts of linguistics and its different branches that deal with different levels
of language structure. It also provides students with a theoretical background
and practical tools to analyze language in terms of phonetics, phonology,
morphology, syntax and semantics. The course eventually aims that this basic
linguistic knowledge will create a mindset of scientific thinking and will give
students a heightened sensitivity to language that will empower them to
understand language and translate more professionally.
