course
Mathematical Physics (3)
The course introduces important topics and methods in mathematics that are relevant to physics and engineering. Emphasis is on the use of the methods and on some proofs and derivations. The assumed prior knowledge is two courses of calculus and at least two years of physics.
After the completion of this class, students should be able to demonstrate proficiency with special functions and their properties and Fourier and Laplace transformations. In addition, students should be able to solve problems using the methods associated with special functions and transforms.
