428 PHC Medicinal Chemistry IV
This course covers the medicinal chemistry of different chemotherapeutic agents such as antibacterial and antimicrobial agents, antivirals, antifungals, and antiprotozoals. A special section will be assigned for cancer and anticancer chemotherapy. Agents to be studied will include thyroid and anti-thyroid drugs, and oral hypoglycemic agents. Emphasis is given to the mechanism of action, structure activity relationship (SAR) and metabolism of these agents. The practical part will include methods of synthesis, analysis, purification and structure elucidation using pharmacopoeial methods and other spectroscopic techniques
