Course objectives:     
The aim of the course is to train students to translate written texts. The skills to be developed are: 

  • Reading and comprehension of written source texts.
  • Analysing in detail the language and structure of the source text.
  • Teaching contextual meaning versus transliteration.
  •  Being exposed to texts from daily life 

Developing the written language (especially English) and merging between communicating the meaning of the source text and preserving the structure of the target language.

Course Description:
Level 5 is considered level one translation; this is the first translation course for the students. It is their first opportunity to practice. Receiving enough training in humanities translation will certainly help to raise competence in written translation.
Throughout the course, students are trained to read and understand English and Arabic texts, focusing mainly on the content and ideas. They are guided gradually, step by step, to merge between communicating the meaning of the source text and preserving the structure of the target language.

  • Final exam:  (40%)
