Marine Natural products (PHG536) Master Program

The basic goal of this course is to provide the student with necessary knowledge about the bioactive natural products derived from marine invertebrates such as soft corals, sponges, and anemones, marine algae and marine microorganisms, and from some marine vertebrates and their methods of discovery. Student will acquire the ability to identify a given natural product on the basis of its chemical class, biosynthetic origin, chemical functionality, and structure-activity relationship. At the end of the course, the student will be able to appreciate and recognize the promising future of the marine natural products as a new resource of drug discovery.
