English Bio
My name Al-Qahtani, Shafi saad. Aiming at acquiring proficiency in the English language, I applied to the Department of Languages and Translation at Imam University in Riyadh after my graduation from the high school. I started my BA program in 1992 and graduated in 1996 with a GPA of 85%. On getting my BA, I worked with the Royal Commission of Jubail. Then, I worked with British Aerospace as a translator for more than one year. After that, I got a position as teaching assistant in the very Department of English, from which I graduated, that is the Department of English and Translation at Imam University. Through this position, I was able to closely watch and evaluate L2 learning problems faced by the Saudi EFL college students. Furthermore, the Department assigned me to teach some classes of English mainly translation. This involvement in teaching was an interesting experience: I dealt with students who were very enthusiastic to completely master a foreign language and receive the same experience I had gotten while working for my bachelor’s degree. When I was teaching the students, I introduced several modifications in the required textbook that better met the students' needs and their leaning interests.
I also worked as the editorial manager for an English magazine for more than one year in the evening in addition to my work at college. In addition to teaching, I am now the Chair of the Qulity Unit at COLT-King Saud University.
