He holds a Bachelor's degree from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at King Saud University, a Master's degree in Nuclear Physics from Ohio University, and a Ph.D. in Superconductivity from the University of Kansas in the United States.
He served as the Head of the Department of Physics and Astronomy from 2009 to 2011.
He has chaired or participated in more than 20 committees at the department, college, and university levels.
He is a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the College of Science, King Saud University, holding the rank of Professor in the field of Condensed Matter.
Most of his research interest lies in the field of superconductivity; however, he has also participated in research related to supercapacitors and batteries. He has a notable presence in community scientific awareness through social media.

I have strong experience in scientific research related to material properties, especially magnetic and optical properties. I have good administrative experience through heading the department and chairing a number of important committees at various levels. I have also supervised a number of Master's and Ph.D. students.
