Organizational Economics 680EconS

This course in regulatory economics prepares Ph.D. students for further study in the field. The course can be described as law imposed by a former of government on firms and individuals in order to regulate or control or modify economic behavior. The focus of this course is (I) on the externalities and regulation theory, as applied to environmental problem, (II) conflict may occur between public services and commercial producers, (III) and the market structure and the issues of market failures, e.g., antitrust. Students will study major papers in the field of regulation economics to gain a better understanding of these issues. Students will synthesize this learning into a major research paper due on the last day of class.
