Course Scope Contents:
Introduction of some basic concepts, types of data and graphical representation.
Descriptive statistics: Measures of central tendency: mean, median and mode. Measures of dispersion: range, standard deviation and coefficient of variation.
Basic probability: conditional probability, concept of independence.
Bayes Theorem for predictive probabilities.
Discrete probability distributions: Binomial, Poisson distributions and their mean and variance.
Continuous probability distributions: Normal distribution and Standard normal distribution.
Sampling distribution of one and two sample means. Sampling distribution of one and two proportions.
Statistical inference: Point and interval estimations.
Testing hypotheses about one and two samples means and proportions including paired data.
