Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan is a Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Managing Director of the Center of Excellence for Concrete Research and Testing at King Saud University (KSU), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T), Rolla, USA.

Dr. Khan previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham, UK. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 1999. With extensive teaching and research experience at renowned institutions, Dr. Khan has taught over a dozen undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering. He has significant expertise in course and curriculum development across a broad range of civil engineering disciplines. He is also actively involved in the development, accreditation, and strategic planning of both undergraduate and graduate engineering programs.

Dr. Khan's research focuses on materials and structural engineering, with primary interests in the development of blast- and impact-resistant materials, the structural behavior of concrete-filled tubes, fiber-reinforced concrete structures, cement-based and polymer-based fiber-reinforced composites, nano- and micro-mechanics of composite materials, sustainability, environmental impact, self-compacting concrete, predictive modeling, and the application of artificial intelligence

Dr. Khan has consistently been ranked in the top 2% of scientists worldwide, both for the lifetime citation impact of his work and for the citation impact of his work in a single calendar year. Stanford University, USA, has been continuously awarding him this recognition since 2019.

Dr. Khan has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on numerous research projects, both locally and internationally. He has successfully completed several international collaborative research projects with institutions in the USA, Germany, Canada, and the UK. He has also led several research and consultancy projects on concrete materials and structures in the UK and KSA.

Dr. Khan has published over 325 technical papers, holds 28 patents, and has edited or co-edited 7 volumes. He has authored or co-authored 2 books and supervised numerous MSc and Ph.D. theses. Dr. Khan has also conducted several MSc and Ph.D. thesis oral examinations, including serving on two oral examination juries at the University of Bahrain and the University of Sherbrooke, Canada. He is the recipient of 4 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals for his inventions at the international level, as well as 8 Excellence and Distinguished Awards.

He serves as Editor or Associate Editor for 6 international journals. He has delivered over 30 invited lectures and seminars, along with more than 25 conference lectures across various countries, including the USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Singapore, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and China. Dr. Khan has also served on the technical committees of over 20 international conferences and is a regular reviewer for more than 15 highly regarded international journals. He is a member of several international professional organizations, including the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the International Centre for Concrete Technology (ICT). He is an approved examiner for ACI certification programs and has conducted numerous certification programs for practicing engineers.

Dr. Khan has contributed to numerous national-level committees, including those focused on developing highly competitive engineering colleges, creating academic frameworks for engineering education, and qualifying exit exams and Fundamental Engineering (FE) exams in Saudi Arabia. He was also a committee member for developing Professional Engineering (PE) exams for engineers in Saudi Arabia. He has authored and co-authored academic instruction manuals for engineering graduate exit exams, FE exams, and PE exams in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Dr. Khan has developed engineering standards and published research related to accreditation.

He has served as an ABET and NCAAA consultant for several universities in Saudi Arabia. He has been a member and chair of NCAAA reviewer panels for institutional and program accreditation in the country. As an ABET program evaluator, Dr. Khan has conducted numerous program evaluations at universities in the United States.
