CV Text

Short bio:

I am an Associate Professor of Linguistics at King Saud University with a PhD from the University of Essex, specializing in the integration of computational linguistics, prosody, and AI-driven language models. My research focuses on the prosodic and intonational patterns in Arabic dialects, with a particular emphasis on Arabic dialects in general and on Saudi Arabic dialects in particular. Additionally, I apply AI methodologies to the analysis and recognition of Arabic sign language, pioneering models that bridge spoken and signed communication. My expertise extends to leveraging advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques in natural language processing (NLP) for Arabic, contributing to more accurate and culturally relevant linguistic models.

In addition to my academic and research activities, I served as Vice Chair of the Global Engagement Office, where I worked on establishing strategic relationships and partnerships with local institutions. My efforts were aimed at creating impactful collaborations that align with the university’s objectives, driving its success in global and regional initiatives. With a portfolio of peer-reviewed publications and international research collaborations, I am committed to advancing the integration of AI and linguistic research to enhance language accessibility and understanding while contributing to the strategic goals of the university.
