Translation Theories

The aim of this course is to enable you to gain insights into the principles of different translation theories (including "advanced"), and to be able to apply the theoretical principles practically in translation. We will apply these practically in translation exercises in class and in take-home assignments, which could also provide you with the contrastive insights into the differences between English and Arabic. In addition, this course will introduce you to a number of issues that need to be considered when undertaking translation between languages (in particular between Arabic and English).
