ARCH 420: Architectural Design Studio VI
This studio explores the design of museums and exhibitions as environments that shape how people see, move, interpret, and engage with cultural content. Rather than treating museums as neutral containers for display, the studio examines how spatial configuration, circulation, visibility, lighting, thresholds, and viewing positions shape the visitor experience. Through a comprehensive design project, students investigate the relationship between architecture, exhibition, and audience, developing proposals that integrate conceptual thinking, spatial analysis, and design exploration. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of movement and perception in the production of meaning, positioning architecture as an active mediator between exhibits and visitors.
