RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Research (Ph.D.):                                   Spring 2022

Oklahoma State University

Thesis Title: Development Of Metal Oxide/Metal Carboxylate Chemistry For The Synthesis Of Metal Tungstates, Molybdates, And Ferrites And Extraction Of Iron From Ores.

The dissertation explored the application of reactions between metal oxides and metal carboxylates to synthesize ternary metal oxides, extract iron from ores and produce single-source precursors for ferrites. The reactions were found to work best for layered compounds. A green process of extraction of iron from both pure iron oxide and iron ore using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid was developed.

Research (M.S.):                                               December 2018

Oklahoma State University

Thesis Title: Synthesis Of Lanthanide Molybdates Via Reaction Of Molybdenum (VI) Oxide With Aqueous Acetate Salts

Reaction of lanthanum or cerium acetate with molybdenum oxide produces a mixed lanthanide molybdate acetate that is an excellent single source precursor for lanthanide molybdenum oxides. The reaction is sensitive to the radius of the lanthanide metal used: metals with smaller radii produce a hydroxyl molybdate product. The products were characterized and the possibility of producing phosphors was studied.
