Dr. Labis finished his BS Physics (cum laude, MSU) and MS (Plasma Physics, UP Diliman) degrees in 1996 in the Philippines. In 2002, he received his PhD Science degree from the Division of Quantum Materials Physics, Okayama University, JAPAN. 2002-2004, as a surface and interface materials scientist, he worked on X-ray emission and photoemission analysis of transition metal-SiC interface using synchrotron radiation at the Hiroshima Synchrotron Radiation Center (HSRC), Hiroshima University, Japan. He also worked as an assistant professor teaching various Physics courses in the graduate schools of 4 different universities in the Philippines from 2004-2008. As a postdoc researcher in Taiwan Photon Source, he focused on X-ray absorption analysis of perovskite materials in 2008-2009. In 2010, Dr. Labis joined the King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology (KAIN), King Saud University, KSA as an assistant professor working on different KSU-NPST projects while taking charge on TEM and PLD systems. In 2015, he was a team member who won the 2014 KACST-ALMARAI PRIZE FOR SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION (Creative Work Category 14th Edition). So far, Dr. Labis has 107 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences.
