Hydrotherapy
This course provides the student with information related to superficial heating modalities (hydro-collator packs and paraffin wax) and cold therapy. This course also provides the student with basic information on the properties of water and hydrodynamic principles that are essential to hydrotherapy techniques. In addition, students learn about equipment for hydrotherapy, therapeutic pool hygiene and management. The methods of application, the physiological effects, the therapeutic uses, the indications and contraindications, the hazards and safety measures for each hydrotherapy, and the heat and cold modality shall be taught. There will be practical demonstrations and applications of each modality. The practicum will include a visit to a hospital therapeutic pool, during which each student will be mandated to enter and carry out exercises in the pool.
