ME 555 Composite Materials

This course will provide an introduction to composite materials and the tools required to analyze composite materials and structures. An overview of the basics of composites and composite manufacturing will be provided. The mechanics of composites and the relationship between micro- and macro mechanics will be covered in depth. Specific topics will include property prediction from a micromechanics basis, failure theories, and an introduction to composite structure design. Advanced topics will focus on novel composites, particulate composites, and characterization of composites.
