Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery

The course provides the basic concepts of knowledge discovery in large databases. The emphasis is on data mining methods – classification, clustering, regression and association rules. Data preprocessing and transformation and techniques for evaluating methods are also introduced. The attention is also paid to methods for knowledge discovery in texts, as well as on web mining. Students gain practical experience in solving standard problems of knowledge discovery on real data.
