621 DDS / Mineralized Tissue Biology and Diseases
The 621 – Mineralized Tissue Biology course is offered during the second term of the second year
students of the doctorate of science in dentistry degree program.
The focus of this course is on the biology and pathology of mineralized tissues, including bone,
cartilage and the tooth components. Analysis of the extracellular matrix, their inorganic, organic,
and cellular components and the mechanisms by which the extracellular matrix is formed and
remodelled. Topics include, but are not limited to, treatment-related topics including wound
healing, distraction osteogenesis, hard and soft tissue engineering, regeneration and repair.
