I am currently a full professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering, King Saud Univ., Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (on leave from Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt). I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Helwan University, Cairo, Egypt and my Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, Calif., USA in 2002. I am a person with more than 30 years of experience in the area of structural engineering. My experience ranges from practical consultancy work in Egypt, USA, Libya, and Saudi Arabia in terms of designing, construction supervision, and reviewing the design of several small as well as mega construction projects. Secondly, I have a good experience in teaching various civil engineering courses in Egypt, USA, Libya, and Saudi Arabia. I also have a good experience in academic research in multi-structural engineering disciplines throughout my academic life. I have published about more than 100 papers in referred journals and conferences. My research interests include: (i) rehabilitation of reinforced concrete (RC) structures using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) and textile-reinforced mortar (TRM) composites, (ii) numerical modeling of steel and concrete structures, (iii) failure analysis and damage assessment of buildings and bridges, and (iv) behavior of steel and concrete buildings under extreme loading conditions.
