English for Academic Purposes is designed for students in the Science/Engineering track with adequate previous exposure to General English. The course provides a consolidation of the four language skills and develops students’ competencies through relevant academic contexts, a wider range of vocabulary and more advanced grammatical structures. Focus is on key cognitive skills such as analysing, synthesizing, and evaluating, needed for academic discourse. Another component of the module is a focus on development of Academic English writing. Students achieve Intermediate Plus proficiency (B1 - B2) on successful completion.
