DEH 461 - Advanced Dental Radiography (Practical)

Credit Hours: 2
Didactic instrutction and clinical application in the techniques of exposing and processing radiographs on different types of patients such as: orthodontic patients, handicapped patients and patients with advanced head and neck diseases or injuries. Clinical application will involve instruction in the use of panoramic radiography.

DEH 461 Practical Outline:
Week 1: Course overview and course outline
Week 2: Discussion of anatomical landmarks for periapical films
Week 3: Radiographic interpretation of periapical and bitewing films ( dental caries, peridontal and periapical pathosis)
Week 4: Quiz 1 + Introduction to panoramic and occlusal radiography
Week 5: Panoramic radiographic interpretation
Week 6: Panoramic and occlusal radiograph demonstration
Week 7: Quiz 2 + Lecture on extraoral radiography
Week 8: Visit to KKUH Radiology Department for a demonstration of cone beam computed tomography and sialography, and digital radiography
Week 9: Practical final exam
