Electroanalysis of Epinephrine using Polymerized Carbon Nanotube Composite Sensor

An electrocatalytic activity of the fabricated sensor based on the poly asparagine modified carbon nanotube mixed carbon paste electrode (PAGMCNTMCPE) was constructed for the voltammetric analysis of the Epinephrine (EP) was presented in this article. The developed electrode exposed an improved electrocatalytic activity towards the detection of the EP (pH 6.5) than the unmodified electrode through the cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry technique (DPV). The Field emission electron microscopy (FE-SEM) was employed to explore the morphological feature of the designed electrode. The charge transfer resistance of the prepared electrode was studied by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Some parameter affecting the analytical signal of the EP such as number of electropolymerisation cycle and pH were optimized. The redox reaction of the EP at the PAGMCNTMCPE is pH-dependent and diffusion-controlled process. The modified electrode yielded the low Detection Limit (DL) value (0.25 µM) for EP. Moreover, the proposed electrode revealed an anti-fouling feature, reproducibility and repeatability. The PAGMCNTMCPE exhibited an outstanding selectivity towards the detection of EP in the presence of Paracetamol (PR) and Folic acid (FA). More importantly, the viability of the modified electrode was tested by detecting the EP in pharmaceutical and biological samples.
