RHS 331_Clinical studies I

The course prepares and trains the students to examine and treat musculoskeletal conditions and disorders from a physical therapy scope of practice. It discusses basic orthopedic examination and intervention concepts, as well as, some common orthopedic and rheumatic conditions including their findings and management.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

•   Define orthopedic rehabilitation within the physical therapy context

•    Appraise the importance of orthopaedic examination and clinical reasoning.

•    List the main components of orthopaedic physical therapy examination and intervention.

•    Describe the main signs and symptoms that are unique of each tissue healing processes.

•    Discuss the signs and symptoms of different orthopedics and rheumatology conditions.

•    Demonstrate the ability to conduct basic orthopaedic examination, evaluate the findings, give a PT diagnosis, and put down a PT intervention plan.

•    Apply different techniques of PT interventions with respect to patient signs and symptoms.

•    Show professional behavior and attitude.
