Course description:
This course provides an introduction of antibiotics as secondary metabolites and their chemical structures, properties, and mechanisms of action. It also covers the classification of antibiotics, usage, isolation and purification, characterization, structural and functional properties, mode of action and resistance from a chemical and biochemical point of view.
Course main objective(s):
This course aims to deliver a fundamental understanding of the biology and chemistry of antibiotics. It offers insights into both the industrial and clinical dimensions of antibiotics, along with exploring the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance.
