Course Description
 
 Introduce the students to sanitary appliances, principles of water supply, plumbing systems and sewage disposal, through lectures, projects and site visits experience.
Course Goals & Objectives
 
  • Explain theoretical issues related to design of sanitary facilities, water supply, plumbing systems and sewage.
  •  Train the students to design and detail sanitary facilities in buildings and plumbing layouts.
Student Performance Criterion addressed
  • Understand the concepts related to sanitary installations.
  • Be able to choose the appropriate plumbing systems and design sanitary facilities, plumbing and drainage in buildings.
Topical Outline
  • Introduction to water supply and sanitary installations (10%).
  • Hot and cold water supply and storage (15%).
  • Sanitary appliances and facility layout (15%). 
  • Project on layout design of sanitary facilities (10%).
  • Plumbing systems (15 %).
  • Exercise & project on plumbing systems (20 %).
  • Foul and surface water drainage (15%).
Prerequisites: ARCH 366 – Building Construction I
