Indented Learning Outcomes (Objectives):
At end of this course, student should be able to:
- Discuss the cardiovascular system anatomy, physiology, cardiac electrophysiology and pathophysiology.
- Differentiate Indication, contraindication, dose and mechanism of action of pharmacological agents used in the management of cardiovascular disorders
- Analyze the monitory and 12 lead ECGs and implement a treatment/disposition plan for the arrhythmias.
- Integrate the assessment findings with principles of cardiovascular system anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology and epidemiology to formulate a clinical impression and implement a treatment plan for patients with cardiovascular emergencies.
- Perform the assessment and management of patients with selected cardiovascular disorders based on knowledge of pathophysiology, epidemiology, psychological impact, presentation and prognosis of the disorder.
- Demonstrate proficiency to use selected cardiac interventions including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, implanted cardioverter defibrillators, synchronized cardioversion and transcutaneous cardiac pacing.
- Follow the current trends and scientific updates in emergency cardiovascular care.
- Value and defend the behavioral aspects of the acute cardiovascular emergency care and cardiac arrest.
