Notes from the instructor:
- If you review the course objectives it should be apparent that the focus of this course is to start your journey in learning how to save lives. Reflect upon the seriousness of this journey. Not knowing what you are doing will lead to errors and mistakes, errors and mistakes can lead to death.
Likewise, I take my role as an EMS instructor and scholar seriously. Though I am not currently providing patient care, I still contend my commitment is ultimately to the patients who will call you for help. If you fail because you are not prepared then I ultimately failed that patient as well.
- Your attendance is very important to your success in this course, college and profession. Attendance is both physical and mental.
Excused absence = you have to be gone.
You must notify me before the absence or as soon as possible. I reserve the right to ask for documentation or to not accept any reason.
Unexcused absence = you want to be gone.
- There will be many quizzes in this course. If you miss a quiz because of an excused absence then you will be allowed to take the quiz up during the next class. However, if you miss a quiz because of an unexcused absence then you will not be allowed to take the quiz and will receive.
- Students have a grace period of 10 minutes to be late. After this, no student more than 10 minutes late to a course session will be permitted. You will not be permitted any extra time to finish an evaluation or assignment because you were late.
- Zero tolerance on academic dishonesty. Any form(s) of giving or receiving assistance deemed academically dishonest will result in a failing grade on assessment for those involved as well as my immediate recommendation to program for student(s) dismissal.
- No extra credit.
- I reserve the right to protect and foster the learning environment in our classroom, therefore I reserve the right to remove or take distractions that are disrupting our learning environment.
