Pediatric Methods for infant & Young Children 588 NUR Master Student

Course overview
Intensive experience with small number of infants and young children and their families in hospital, home and clinic settings. Identification and analysis of problems arising from physical and psychological alterations due to illness and concomitant alteration in family dynamics development of research and theory- based nursing approaches.
Course Outcome

  1. Identify bio psychosocial problem in order to develop recommendation, management and follow-up to help clients to reach optimal level of wellness.
  2. Explain the condition issues or problems of children based on the literature or clinical experiences.
  3. Emphasize the physical, psycho-social or behavioral manifestations that are associated with a specific condition or problem
  4. Uses synthesis of knowledge, problem solving and critical thinking abilities in care of children.

 
Course objectives.

  1. Identify the common health problems for the following pediatric age groups infant and toddlers.
  2. Differentiate the response of the ill or injured infant and toddler and its impact on the family
  3. Identify the signs and symptoms of (hypo perfusion) in an infant and toddler and common causes of seizures in the infant and toddlers.
  4. Differentiate between the injury patterns infants, and toddlers and summarize the indicators of possible – child abuse and neglect.
  5. Identify appropriate nursing activities in support and teaching for parents of children with different health problems
  6. Utilize the nursing process and developmental theories to provide holistic care for neonate and young childhood and their families.
