نبذة تعريفية / مختصر السيرة الذاتية

Dr. Rukhsana Gul has recently been appointed as an Assistant Professor at Obesity Research Center (ORC), College of Medicine, King Saud University, KSA.
Prior to joining ORC, Dr. Gul was working as a Postdoctoral fellow in Diabetes Research center, School of Medicine, University of Missouri, Columbia-MO, USA. She has a long-standing interest in the signaling mechanisms activated by the peptide hormone Angiotensin II (Ang II) in normal development and cardiovascular pathology. Her research has taken a new direction recently with the emphasis on understanding the role of different microRNA’s in cardiovascular pathology. Her recent studies in Diabetes Research center, at the University of Missouri have unraveled a novel role of Nebivolol, a 3rd generation beta adrenergic receptor blocker.
Dr Gul has also worked in Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Chonbuk National University, South Korea. She elucidated a novel signaling pathway of ADP-ribosyl cyclase activation by Ang II in adult rat cardiomyocytes. She also demonstrated that inhibition of ADP-ribosyl cyclase by a small molecule inhibitor, 2,2'-dihydroxyazobenzene (DAB), attenuates Ang II-induced cardiac hypertrophy.
Dr. Gul has co-supervised 1 PhD student and 3 summer students at Chonbuk National University, South Korea. She has also successfully co-supervised research training of 2 Undergraduates in Honors Research Capstone Course, and 2 Undergraduates in Honors Preceptorship at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA.
