نبذة تعريفية / مختصر السيرة الذاتية

I am Dr. Nasreen Mohammad Alshamy, an Assistant Professor of Maternal and Midwifery Nursing and Assistant Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Nursing, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I hold a PhD in Maternal and Midwifery Nursing from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom, awarded in 2023, a Master of Nursing in Women’s Health from King Saud University (2010), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from King Saud University (2003).

With more than 20 years of professional experience in nursing, maternal and child health, midwifery education, clinical practice, research, and academic administration, I am committed to advancing women's and newborns' health through excellence in education, evidence-based clinical practice, and research. My academic and professional journey has strengthened my dedication to developing competent and compassionate healthcare professionals and contributing to the continuous improvement of nursing and midwifery education and practice.

My research interests focus on maternal and newborn health, postpartum care, breastfeeding, maternal sociocultural beliefs and practices, women's health, and nursing and midwifery education. I am particularly interested in qualitative research and innovative technology-enhanced educational approaches, including virtual reality and simulation, to enhance learning experiences and support the transition from academic education to clinical practice.

In addition to my teaching and research responsibilities, I contribute to academic leadership, strategic academic affairs, research and innovation initiatives, and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. I value collaboration, continuous professional development, and the integration of research evidence into educational and clinical practice. Through these roles, I aim to foster a supportive academic environment that promotes innovation, scholarly development, and high-quality education.

My long-term professional goal is to contribute to the advancement of nursing and midwifery education, strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare, and promote impactful research that addresses the needs of women, newborns, families, and healthcare professionals. I aspire to continue developing as an academic leader and researcher while contributing to the strategic development of nursing and midwifery education and healthcare services in Saudi Arabia and internationally.
