تقيّم الدراسة أثر التهاب المفاصل الشديد على سلوك القيادة وخطر الحوادث باستخدام بيانات دراسة القيادة الطبيعية SHRP 2، التي شملت 3,563 مشاركاً، منهم 78 مصاباً بالتهاب مفاصل شديد شاركوا في 414 من أصل 1,641 حادثاً. وبعد ضبط أثر العمر، كان المصابون أكثر عرضة للحوادث بنحو الضعف (نسبة أرجحية 1.99)، ولم تظهر علاقة ذات دلالة بالانشغال بالمهام الثانوية.
English summary
The effect of severe arthritis on driving and crash risk is evaluated with the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study, covering 3,563 participants, of whom 78 had severe arthritis and were involved in 414 of 1,641 crashes. After adjusting for age, drivers with arthritis were about twice as likely to be involved in a crash (odds ratio 1.99). No significant association was found with secondary task engagement.
تستخدم الدراسة بيانات قيادة طبيعية لفحص العلاقة بين التهاب مفاصل اليد وخطر الحوادث. كما تدرس الانشغال بالمهام الثانوية ومؤشرات الملاءمة للقيادة مع مراعاة أثر العمر.

Naturalistic driving data are used to examine hand arthritis and crash involvement. Secondary tasks and fitness-to-drive indicators are also assessed while accounting for age.
