Welcome to my web page. I am Professor Hend S. Al-Khalifa, a Professor in the Information Technology Department at the College of Computer and Information Sciences, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and an AI consultant with over 20 years of experience. I am proud to be the first female Professor in the college.
With over 200 publications in international workshops, conferences, and journals, my research has earned an H-index of 40, placing me among the most-cited scientists worldwide. My scholarly contributions have garnered awards, research grants, and active participation in leading academic forums. I am the coordinator of the iWAN Research Group, which focuses on Arabic Natural Language Processing, Applied Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer Interaction, and Computers for People with Special Needs, alongside interdisciplinary research on Web technologies and E-Learning.
I have held prominent roles in the academic community, including serving as the chair of COLING2025 and WANLP2022 and organizing the OSACT workshop series, co-located with LREC, for a decade. My service extends to program committees of notable NLP conferences such as NAACL-HLT, EMNLP, ACL-IJCNLP, and ArabicNLP. I am also a reviewer for journals like IEEE Access, ACM Transactions on Asian and Low-Resource Language Information Processing, and Data-in-Brief..
In terms of leadership, I was the Vice Dean of the College of Computer and Information Sciences (2011-2015), the first female President of the Saudi Computer Society’s female division (2013-2015), and the first female member of its board (2013 - 2015). My teaching and mentorship experience spans BSc, MSc, and PhD levels, guiding numerous students to success.
