الترجمه في المجالات الإسلامية | Translation in Islamic Fields

   
The aim of the course is to train learners to translate written Islamic texts. The skills to be developed are:

  • Reading and comprehension of written source texts.
  • Analyzing in detail the language and structure of the source text.
  • Teaching contextual meaning versus transliteration.
  •  Being exposed to texts from the Islamic field.
  • Learning the different strategies in translating Islamic texts.
  • Being exposed to the different reliable recourses that can help in translating Islamic texts.

Course Description:
The course examines a variety of religious texts and and explores the various strategies traditionally and currently employed when translating Islamic texts from Arabic to English and vice versa.

 

Throughout the course, learners are trained to read and understand English and Arabic texts, focusing mainly on the content, ideas and strategies. They are guided gradually, step by step, to merge between communicating the meaning of the source text and preserving the structure of the target language.
