Course Goals and Objectives

Learners will participate in a variety of activities that will enable them to:

Understand the importance of conducting research at the micro and macro levels

Differentiate between the different varieties of research articles and study designs

Use KSU’s Central Library and the Saudi Digital Library (SDL) to conduct library research and collect information from reliable resources Produce an academic research papers following APA guidelines

Select sources, take notes and cite sources to support ideas Identify how writers convey their purpose for a particular audience (e.g., ethos, pathos, logos, academic writing)

Identify and evaluate methods of argument, persuasion and evidence used by others and implement them in your own writing

Identify and evaluate how language shapes a writer's credibility and persuasive appeals (e.g., ethos, pathos, logos, academic writing)

Enhancing one's ability to organize and develop ideas in a coherent and unified way

Revise and reshape one's writing to improve ideas, organization, language use, vocabulary and mechanics

Identify and correct structural and grammatical errors within your written texts via the revision and editing process.

Become better reader and writer in preparation for the rest of your college career
